A Family Wedding

About two weeks ago, my husband and I went to his cousin’s wedding, and the reception was held at a gorgeous country club on Long Island. I wanted to look the part, so I found my dress first, and then built my outfit around that.

My dress is the Gia dress from Pin Up Girl Clothing. It’s such a decadent and sexy dress, I had to have it! With a 1930s look, I decided to build my whole look around it. I wanted to go for a 1930s Art Deco vamp. It has a good amount of stretch but also is sturdy enough to hold and shape everything. I felt like a goddess for sure!

My clutch and earrings are gloriously glamorous – both from Pink Collar Life’s shop. Full disclosure though: if you visit their shop, you will want to buy everything they have! I have purchased about five separate occasions, and I have everything from clutches, hair barrettes, combs, headbands, jewelry, turbans and much more from them. All of their products are high quality and fabulous! For the wedding, I bought their Stardust clutch and Art Deco Fan earrings, shown below.

Aren’t they stunning?! I received so many compliments on them that I honestly couldn’t keep track. They will be coming to Viva with me in a few weeks as well!

What makeup did I wear, you say? Well, I wore Velour Lashes mink falsies in Winging It, shown below. I wore several ColourPop shadows, and I used the Kat Von D Shade + Light contour kit as well as NARS blush in Orgasm. My brows are using Brow Definer in Dark Brown from Anastasia of Beverly Hills. My lippie is OCC Lip Tar in Black Dahlia.

I loved my look for the night! I achieved curl in my hair via a wet set using Rockin’ Rollers (the same exact thing using a different name can be found in CVS) and Lottabody. I did not get to brush out as much as I wanted because after just having major wrist surgery, my wrist was not up to the task!

During the reception, a photographer was on standby taking pictures of guests and putting them into frames. Of course I dragged my husband to take a snap, and well…

The Wedding Celebration (Afterparty?)

This past Sunday we held a huge shindig at a great restaurant my husband’s brother works at called E.B. Elliot’s. It’s here on Long Island at the Nautical Mile, a great place near the water to go out and have a great time at.

Nearly all of Alex’s family and friends were there, as well as my sister, mom, and my bestest gal Jodie with her son RJ. Of course she gifted me some amazing shots to remember for the rest of our lives.

Here are a few that I wanted to share!

We had a fabulous time and we are so glad that everyone came. I feel really blessed to be a part of such a great and loving family. After the horrors my mom and I went through with my father’s family, I feel like I could not be part of a better family that is so welcoming and supportive. I can happily say that I look forward and certainly do not dread spending time with my in-laws πŸ™‚

BIG NEWS! – Our wedding was featured in a New York Times article! We had our ceremony recorded and made into a little video that goes along with a blurb about us in the article. It is very surreal to see ourselves on a big name journalistic medium such as the Times – something to keep forever for sure!

The Wedding!

So it happened – I am a married woman, a wifey! I remember a few years back saying to my mom, “I’m never going to get married, that’s not my thing”…but here I am, now a Mrs. And it feels pretty good! πŸ™‚

Now I know y’all want pictures, so here they are – all have been taken by the AMAZING Jodie King of Jodie King Photography. I could never have imagined anyone else taking my wedding pictures. And she did not disappoint, as usual!

So what do y’all think?! We had a great time and everyone got along swimmingly. None of us wanted to leave because we were drinking, dancing, and having a ton of laughs. My girl Nicole (in the red dress) flew all the way out from California to be my maid of honour – it wouldn’t have been the same without her or Jodie there, they are the best! Alex’s dad was the best man and my mom walked me down the aisle. We had a small wedding with only 11 people, but it was great πŸ™‚

We are having a bigger party this Sunday, and my girl Jodie will be there taking more pictures. And you’d better believe I will be posting pictures of that as well πŸ™‚

Wedding Planning

Hi everyone!

So the wedding planning has been moving along rather rapidly – we are planning to get married on 15 February aboard the Skyline Princess yacht, with a reception to follow. The Skyline Princess was introduced to me through our officiant, Captain Arnold. He was/is a Coast Guard chaplain for 40 years, and seeing as how both Alex and I are prior service, I thought it would fit perfectly. The yacht does a cruise around the Manhattan skyline and points of interest such as the Statue of Liberty. Everything is taken care of, from the ceremony to the cake to the bouquet. How could you go wrong with that, when we only have about six weeks to prepare? I hope it really is as wonderful as it seems so far!

It will be a very small list of guests, only 11 at most. We are planning to get married so soon because Alex is planning to reenlist, this time in the Army. It is way easier to be already married going in rather than getting married after signing a contract. Soooo…hence the sooner wedding.

Now – on to the fun parts!

These will be the wedding colours, in a nutshell: deep red, ivory, and black. I feel like it is extremely classy but appropriate for the time, both if the day and of the year. Plus red is my favourite colour!

This, for sure, will be along the lines of what I intend my hair to look like that day. I already a few ideas of how to get my hair to this level of amazing vintageness, but I shall not divulge!

One of these beauties will certainly be taking center stage in my hairdo! πŸ™‚

How’s that for some gorge vintage bling?! But I fear it may look like a little over the top considering the hair comb I will be having behind my right ear. So I will have to figure something out πŸ˜›

The wedding program and favour ideas that I have that I may DIY. Hey, it’s not 150 programs and favours I have to make, so certainly doable!

This is certainly a picture I want to take – so cute!

I just bought my dress, but I won’t post anything about it whatsoever – why spoil the surprise? Plus I don’t even want to give away any little bit about it if my fiancΓ© happens to pop in here πŸ˜›

Wedding Bells

I haven’t really shared this news with anyone much via the internet, but yes – I am an engaged girl! I was asked by my boyfriend Alex on Thanksgiving, and of course I said yes πŸ™‚

So we have decided to probably plan our legal wedding next summer on our anniversary on 07 July, and we’ll probably head to Las Vegas. Then, the summer after, we will have an actual wedding and reception for all of our friends and family. That way, we can get married in private officially and have it be our “own” private moment, but yet we can have a big to-do ceremony and reception party for everyone who matters to us. I think it is a great compromise of the two sides!

So naturally, I started looking at dresses, hairstyles, makeup, colours/themes – all of it. I became one of “those girls” and started a Pinterest board: Wedding Schmedding

I’ve found some really great ideas for both the legal ceremony as well as the actual wedding. So many choices – this is either going to be hella fun or hella frustrating! But either way – certainly worth it in the end πŸ™‚

Here’s some ideas I have so far:

Those are some fab first ceremony dresses if I ever did see any! I’d have a 1950s type theme to the first legal ceremony, and an elegant 1930s/1940s theme to the wedding & reception to be held later.

If I ever got another ring set, you’d bet it would be just like this – gorgeous!

Absolutely stunning for the reception – feathers look so glamourous and classy!

And you’d better believe I’d have my tattoos be shown off if I can help it – I want our wedding to be totally US – no excuses or accommodations for anyone else. I know it’s not always going to be like that, but hey – I can dream, can’t I? πŸ˜›
